The PhD project will investigate the relationship between religion and development through a study of discourses and practices of 'Islamic charity' and 'development'. The project focuses spesifically on gender as well as the transnational dimensions of these discourses and practices, studied in the context of Punjab, Pakistan and the 'Pakistani diaspora' in Oslo, Norway.
