The final report, issued in early 1999, focused mainly on how problems in agriculture – and in the rural sector in general – may generate conflict, and also reviewed the evidence for how armed conflict creates problems for agriculture and food security. The report was given wide publicity by its sponsor, Future Harvest, topped by a column by Jimmy Carter in International Herald Tribune. The report, though available in electronic form on the Future Harvest website, has sold well and had to be reprinted in autumn 1999.

The project was funded by Future Harvest and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
