Background

Marek Thee (1918-1999) was a researcher at PRIO 1969-89, when he moved on to the Norwegian Human Rights Institute.

Marek Thee was a specialist of the arms race and international regulation and arms control. Thee was PRIO Director 1981-83.

He was the founding editor of Bulletin of Peace Proposals (renamed Security Dialogue), which he edited for almost 20 years.

An extensive written portrait of Marek Thee by Marta Bivand Erdal was published as part of the 60th Anniversary series PRIO Stories in June 2019.
