Background

​Amara Thiha is a Doctoral Researcher at PRIO taking part in the POPAGANDA project. He is enrolled in the PhD programme (ABD) in Sociology at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, and holds a Master Degree in History and Informatics from Uppsala University and Örebro University in Sweden. 

Amara has significant experience in Government Related funded projects by providing Technical Support to Negotiators on Security Issues and developing Roadmap for Security Sector Development (DDR-SSR) in Myanmar. He has over 8 years’ experience in Research and Programme management for Ceasefire Negotiation and Monitoring, Security Dialogue in the Peace Process, Conflict monitoring, Foreign Policy Analysis, Public Diplomacy strategy and Rule of Law in Myanmar, US, Sweden and Portugal. He was also part of a PRIO project through a partner organisation in 2020–2021.
