Background

Adhikary will be staying at PRIO in the period 2 May to 1 November 2017, working on his PhD for the project Gender Equality, Peace and Security in Nepal and Myanmar (WOMENsPEACE), led by Wenche Iren Hauge. This project is a collaboration between the local partners Nepal Centre for Contemporary Research (NCCR) in Kathmandu, Nepal and Ar Yone Oo (AYO)in Yangoon, Myanmar. Adhikary has been recruited for this project by NCCR.

Adhikary started the work with his PhD in July 2016. In November 2016 he participated in the organization of a large  workshop in Kathmandu on  Gender Equality Peace and security: Gender Dimensions of Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration in Nepal, as part of the WOMENsPEACE project. Adhikary has recently carried out fieldwork in Chitwan, Nepal, interviewing female ex-combatants.
