Two years ago NATO made a landmark decision when Norwegian diplomat Mari Skåre was appointed the Secretary-General's first ever Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security. In the years that have passed NATO has continued to make significant contributions to the implementation of UNSCR 1325 and subsequent resolutions. Amongst others a NATO Policy and a NATO Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security have been adopted. Also, the Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security has been made a permanent position within the International Staff.
Mari Skåre recently stepped down as SRSG. At this public seminar she will share her thoughts and reflections on achievements and challenges. How can NATO continue to contribute to the implementation of UNSCR 1325 and related resolutions in the years ahead?
