PRIO Staff have made a large number of the data they use for their publications available for download as replication datasets.

Original Datasets

The PRIO-GRID dataset is a spatio-temporal grid structure constructed to aid the compilation, management and analysis of spatial data over time. It consists of quadratic grid cells that cover all terrestrial areas of the world.

Data on Armed Conflict

PRIO has been involved in the collection of a number of datasets on armed conflicts, including among others the UCDP/PRIO Armed Conflict Dataset for the period 1946 to the present.

Small Arms Trade Database

PRIO's research project Norwegian Initiative on Small Arms Transfers (NISAT) provides an extensive file collection and database on the legal and illegal trade in small arms and light weapons. The Mapping Arms Data (MAD) visualization is based on NISAT data.

Mapping Arms Data

The Mapping Arms Data (MAD) visualization project is produced by PRIO and the Igarapé Institute. It represents an upgrade of the original global small arms, light weapons and ammunition visualization produced by Google.

Geographical and Resource Datasets

The geography concept covers a large set of inherent, pervasive factors that shape opportunities for action and interaction. PRIO offers a number of datasets on specific aspects of geography that are often considered to influence the risk and nature of interstate and intrastate conflict.

Data on Governance

PRIO and the former CSCW has been involved in providing data to study governance issues in civil war, partly by making available Tatu Vanhanen's Polyarchy dataset and by contributing to the Polity project's democracy dataset. We have also compiled MIRPS which is a combination of the two datasets.

Economic and Socio-Demographic Data

These datasets provide estimates of trade flows between independent states (1948-2000) and GDP per capita of independent states (1950-2000).

ACDC Bibliography

The Advanced Conflict Data Catalogue (ACDC) project has developed a bibliography that contains references to literature on the 253 conflicts in the UCDP/PRIO Armed Conflict Dataset, covering the period from 1946 to 2012.
